If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
– 2 Chronicles 7:14 –
What a beautiful truth that as we seek out the Lord in humility, with recognition of our brokenness, He inclines His ear to us and brings his healing hand upon the brokenness we bring.
Yesterday we placed the living and breathing Word of God into the ground of what will soon be the foundation of our new nakamal. This was a prophetic act in many ways for us here in Teouma Valley. Nakamals, in the past and up to the current, have been notorious for being a gathering place for the men in Vanuatu to gather and drink alcohol and kava. For many years it has stood as a place where there is contention between men and women. We believe that God has a higher calling for both the men and women in Vanuatu and we want to call that out in them. With building the nakamal, our desire is to have it as a gathering place where men and women can come together in unity and bring glory to God. It’s purpose is to create an atmosphere of community and belonging.
We laid the Bible in the centre of the nakamal as a declaration that the Word of God will be spoken and acted out by the people in Teouma Valley. Our heart is to see the culture that has been distorted by sin become part of God’s redemption story. We recognize that God is the one who fully understands the hearts and mindsets of His children here and we are praying in humility that He would come and bring healing to this nation. As we laid down the Bible into the foundation of what will soon be the Family Care Centre’s gathering place for community, we declared 2 Chronicles 7:14, worshiped our Savior, and dedicated this building as His; to do as He pleases.
Surrounding the nakamal, we look forward to the beach volleyball and beach soccer field being built. We are waiting to be fully funded before we can complete this vision. The sports field will be another aspect of focusing on bringing the community together and also for investing into the children and youth more directly. We ask you to join us in prayer as we move forward. We want God to be in every aspect of this venture and continue to see His hand of blessing over us. If you want to partner with us as we continue to pioneer the things God has placed on our hearts, please visit our donation page.
